Mount Pleasant West is a midtown Toronto neighbourhood that lives up to its name. Also referred to as Davisville Village, this area is more relaxed than downtown, but still extremely walkable to transit, stores, and restaurants. It was named after Toronto’s famous Mount Pleasant Cemetery, where locals and visitors come to explore the quiet beauty of the grounds. Other parks in the area offer residents outdoor space for taking a walk or riding a bike. Families with children are drawn to the parks, but also to the many schools in the district. Mount Pleasant West is bordered by Yonge Street to the west, Mount Pleasant Road to the east, Keewatin Avenue to the north, and the cemetery to the south. The Yonge and Eglinton intersection is also within the area, so there are many shopping and dining options nearby.

A mixture of chain stores, specialty shops, restaurants, and grocery stores are all located close by. Greenspace is also steps away, with parks for walking the dog, playing with your kids, or taking a scenic stroll. Like other midtown areas, if you live in Mount Pleasant West and work downtown you won’t need a car to get to work. You can walk to Eglinton or Davisville subway station at either end of the neighbourhood. Buses also run along Davisville, Yonge, Mount Pleasant, and Eglinton Avenue East. For those who commute by car, the Don Valley Parkway is approximately a twenty minute drive away. 

What NOT to Expect: For those seeking non-stop nightlife, you might prefer a condo downtown. There are bars and pubs in Mount Pleasant West, but a big part of the neighbourhood is residential streets.

A Day in the Life: Your Mount Pleasant West condo is next to a coffee shop on Eglinton. Have a morning brew and an everything bagel, then walk down the street to yoga class. Feeling reenergized, it’s time for sushi with your friends followed by a nice long walk in the park. Check out some fun shops on Yonge Street, where others are enjoying some retail therapy. Go home and change before meeting your date at the steakhouse for dinner and drinks. Take in the stand-up show at the comedy club for hours of laughs.
